A Lifelong Neighbor Running for PVE City Council

I have been blessed to have grown up in PVE from the age of 6, when my parents built our home in Malaga Cove, and I have a deep appreciation for this special place. My motivation in running for office is to ensure that, long term, it stays that way.

My priorities include:

  • Continuing our high level of public safety (including retention of our local police department)

  • Repairing our aging infrastructure

  • Jealously defending our priceless open spaces

  • Pushing back vigorously on state-imposed housing mandates

Our most urgent challenges are the competing needs of our neglected infrastructure and a growing unfunded pension liability, for which we currently spend $2,000,000 annually on interest alone.

Our city is running a growing, unsustainable structural deficit. Addressing this will require identifying new sources of revenue, maximizing value from the city’s existing assets, and finding ways to manage our city’s operations more efficiently — while minimizing our dependence on long-term parcel taxes.

I recently retired from Kaiser South Bay, where I served as chief of surgery and chaired the budget management committee for 8 years.

I have the time, energy, and ability to help solve these problems and respectfully ask for your vote.
